Blue Skies, a Northamptonshire based prepared fruit and juice producer with factories in Ghana, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil and the UK, has been awarded Supermarket Supplier of the Year at the Fresh Produce consortium’s ‘Fresh Awards’ during an awards dinner on the 8th of June hosted by British comedian, actor and broadcaster Hugh Dennis.
The award recognises how Blue Skies has been able to manage significant growth in a challenging post-brexit climate thanks to the business model it operates called the ‘Joint Effort Enterprise’ (JEE).
The JEE is the Blue Skies framework for a sustainable business, formed by the Founder of the business, Anthony Pile. It is principally made up of three strands; a diverse society, a culture of respect and a drive for profit. This model ensures that Blue Skies recruits and retains the best people, and conserves the resources it relies on, so that the business can continue producing the best quality products, keep customers happy and generate the income needed to sustain the company. Put simply the JEE espouses the idea that a business works best if it is inclusive, socially equal and profitable.
