2015 sees the eighteenth year since Anthony Pile stepped out of a plane in Ghana and decided he would start up a fresh-cut factory here, and the change that has taken place since that time is remarkable.
The two pictures below show what has changed. The top photo reveals a lone building as the factory stood in 1998 surrounded by bush and with only a few trees dotted about, the bottom photo in contrast shows a vast factory site with a new facility (Factory 3) taking shape at the top right of the photo – and surrounded by luscious green mango trees. Factory 1 is circled in both photos – this has just been renovated after 18 years by some of the same team of people who built the original structure… and as you can see from the photo, it is also being given a gleaming blue roof! This year the company will see a lot of exciting changes and developments at all its sites as the business expands its capacity to meet growing demand, but it won’t be without its challenges. With trouble in the Eurozone, a looming general election in the UK and uncertainty around the price of oil, 2015 is set to be another eventful year in the life of Blue Skies, and we’re ready for whatever it has to throw at us!
